Kim Achelis Hoggan
Kimberly Achelis Hoggan is a Certified Yoga instructor, recognized by Yoga Alliance since 2006. To date, Kim has accumulated over 500 hours of teaching experience and has studied many styles of yoga, including Anusara, Ashtanga, Iyengar and Vinyasa. She currently is working towards recognition as an Anusara-Inspired Yoga instructor.
Kim was first drawn to yoga after suffering serious injuries from a snowboarding accident, including a broken back and torn MCL. Doctors told her she may never be able to snowboard or move properly again. The ancient practice of yoga helped heal her injuries, as it affected and improved every aspect of her life.
Always a student, Kim strives to teach what she experiences in her own yoga practice, realizing the deeper her own practice becomes, the more effective she will be sharing this wonderful practice with others.
An understanding of yoga philosophy comes easily to Kim, and she loves the last line of the Anusara invocation “Niralambaya Tejase” which means there is a inner sparkling luminosity, a blissful radiance of the heart. This radiance does not depend on any circumstance to exist, it just is, it always is, there is never a time in our life were we are without this inner shine. How wonderful is that? Through the physical practice of yoga asana we deepen our connection to this inner brilliance and intrinsic goodness. We learn that on and off the matt when challenges of life seem overwhelming, we still have this wonderful sparkling essence.
Kim is thankful for her lovely teachers Adam Ballenger, John Friend, Jennifer Ellen Mueller, Nathan Hayes, Shiva Rea and Erich Schiffman.
