Jen Hecht
When Jen was little her parents raised her with a strong awareness of the beauty of all beings, and she is grateful beyond words to them for this deep connection to her heart in her upbringing. Jen has found movement, especially yoga, to be a path that opens the whole being to peace, joy, and serenity.
Her first experience with yoga in the asana style was in 1990/91, in her first couple years of college while studying dance. She connected strongly with certain postures; in particular, plow pose which was a great restorative pose for her for many years.
In 1999, Jen started a deeper journey to explore the physical practice and shortly thereafter met a teacher - Mary Johnston-Coursey. This teacher brought a new understanding and power to Jen’s practice. From there her practice grew, she began incorporating yoga in her teaching with children and soon started teaching kids yoga classes, and - of course - later classes for all.
Jen has studied extensively with John Friend, especially in Yoga Therapeutics. She has loved every minute of these training's . . . except the time he asked her a question and she blurted out every answer she could think of. She also has a great passion for philosophy and has had teachings from Douglas Brooks and Paul Muller-Ortega. There have been many Yogi's and Yogini's involved in Jen’s growth and understanding for whom she has a great deal of gratitude.
Jen is grateful to be recognized as an "Anusara-Inspired™" yoga instructor by John Friend and Anusara® Yoga. She is also registered with Yoga Alliance as a 200-hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher).
